Herb and Hebe Know

Yesterday Mr and Mrs Know, (who are teachers) took the rabbits who attended school this year on a trip to Mushroom Valley for the last school day for this year. Mr Know took their baby twins, Herb and Hebe to Kowhai Corner Bunnyborough Medical Centre to be cared for by Nurse Emily and Dental Nurse Flo.

Mr and Mrs Know were told before the twins were taken to K.C.B. Medical centre that Mr Kiwi will give them their last medicine treatment and Doctor Kiwi would be visiting the twins to check that the twins are responding to the last treatment the way they should. Mr and Mrs Know were told not to pick up the twins until the next morning when it was daylight.

Mr Kiwi gives Herb and Hebe the last lot of medicine to make their fur grow.  The twins have a temperature but that is quiet normal for this treatment.  Doctor Kiwi and Mr Kiwi go home and say they will be back at daylight, (hopefully before Mr and Mrs Know!)  The twins go to sleep so Nurse Emily and Dental Nurse Flo go upstairs to their beds and go to sleep too.

At daylight they hear the knocking on the door.  Mr and Mrs Know, Mr Kiwi and Doctor Kiwi are there waiting to be let in.  They all rush to Herb and Hebe’s beds where the twins are still asleep. “Oh!” they all exclaim the twins are cured.  With all the noisy discussions the twins wake up and smile at their parents. Oh, what a happy start to the day.

They all pose for a photo together before Mr and Mrs Know heartily thank everyone and hop off home with the twins.   Next year looks promising for the Know family.

End of Year School Trip

Mrs Know is calling the roll to check who is present at school today. Les Lemon and Fiona Fawn are absent.  Mrs Know told the rabbits last week that today they are going on a school trip to Mushroom Valley. Although it will be a fun day the rabbits are to pair off or form a small group and they are to have a leader to write a description of the mushrooms they see.

Mr Know has taken the twins, Hebe and Herb, to the hospital for the day to be looked after by the Nurse and Dental Nurse.

For a treat Marigold, Rosemary and Rata have been invited to come too. Mr Know is picking them up with Strawberry the pony and cart. They younger rabbits will also ride in the cart. Les and Fiona have arrived, just in time. They all hop to Mushroom Valley.

When they arrive at Mushroom Valley Gene and Grace pair off and Grace writes down the description of this mushroom as peach in colour. That is after they have a play with the hedgehogs.

Greg and Bluebell described these mushrooms as shiny, mustard in colour and the biggest one in the middle has a green top.

Rosemary is with Rata and Marigold and she writes down this mushroom is called a Plum mushroom and it is tall and woody. Rata has poor eyesight so Rosemary tells her what she has written down.

The Grayson quads stay together and Tracy has described the mushrooms as small with white stalks and a red top with white spots.

Ingrid, Fiona and Len are together and are having trouble describing this mushroom. Ingrid eventually writes down brown with rings with a dark brown edge at the base and on the widest top part. They notice the small mushrooms and have a closer look.

“It’s a little house for the ladybird!” exclaims Ingrid. The hedgehog tells Fiona that there are two blue mushrooms and a little blue man lives in one.

Fiona goes over to the blue mushrooms to have a look but Mr and Mrs Know come over and asks them to come back to join the others.  Fiona tells them that a little blue man lives in one.

“Not in this country they are not lived in,” replies Mrs Know. Mr Know adds that the little blue men are known as smurfs and they don’t live in this valley.

Fiona turns her head back when they walk away and she is sure she saw a little blue man come out the door of one mushroom and run to the other mushroom.

The day ends with a picnic and the rabbits hop back into the cart and Strawberry takes them back to the school. They have all had an enjoyable day and are sad that this is the last day of school for this year.

Mr Dot Opens his Pizza Shop

Mr Dot was very pleased when Mr Know told him that the K. C. Bunnyborough committee has given their permission for him to open a Pizza Shop and sell pizzas at K. C. Bunnyborough.

Mr Dot quickly got his building transported from his last location and set it up at the allotted place given to him to have his Pizza Shop.  Mrs Grayson and Mrs Grayson/blue think his shop is a bit shabby; maybe it needs a female’s touch.

They give him  two containers of tulips in a half barrel and plant four gerberas in front of the Pizza shop's eating area.

Mr Dot invites the Grayson Family to be his first customers and will give the family a free pizza meal at the shop.  His daughter, Ingrid will be his assistant when theshop is open and Mr Dot will cook all the Pizzas.

His next customers are Grandfather and Grandmother Cottontail. They order a carrot, cheese and puha (vegetable) pizza. Mr Dot welcomes his first paying customers and Mr Dot and Grandfather Cottontail talk about the places they have visited. While Mr Dot is talking the White family and Pink Nose arrive and order a pizza. Mr Dot is very pleased. Grandfather and Grandmother Cottontail would prefer to have chairs to sit on at the Pizza shop.

On Mondays Mr Dot will deliver pizzas to the North. On Tuesdays he will deliver pizzas to the South. On Wednesdays he will deliver pizzas to the West and on Thursdays he will deliver to the East.

It is twilight now and the Pizza shop does not have electricity. Mr Dot tells Ingrid he will close the shop now and asks her to clean and tidy the shop while he goes and cuts some wood for tomorrow.

The shop is closed and it is dark but the lovely smell of the piazzas still lingers and the smell hasn’t escaped two twitching noses that belong to Ricky and Ruth Rattie.  They are lured by the smell to the Pizza shop.

“This is a new shop,” Says Ricky to Ruth, as he looks at the gap between the foundation and floor of the shop.  He crawls through with Ruth close behind and comes out between the two floor levels. They find the left over wrapped pizzas  on the back shelf of the counter.

“Yum, Yum,” they murmur as eat the pizzas.  When they eat all they can they s q u e e z e out the same way they got in.

Ruth sees Mr Dot’s bike for pizza deliveries and asks Ricky to give her a ride.  They enjoy a bike ride and are returning the bike when they hear a noise. They abandon the bike and run away.

Next morning Mr Dot notices his bike on its side and Ingrid sees the mess inside the shop .

Mr Dot contacts Mr Know and he comes and examines the paw prints on the bike and teeth marks on the half eaten pizza.  “I know who has been here” he says, “The Ratties.”  Mr Dot will not press charges because no damage has been done. They can do three  hours of cutting wood.

Freddo

It is a nice cool morning with the sun behind the clouds so the twins, Len and Larry, decide to go the Tree Hut Park to practise kicking their football.  They actually live next to Tree Hut Park so it doesn’t take them long to hop to the park.

They are kicking the football around near the tree hut when they hear some moaning in a croaky voice.Larry asks Len if he can hear the moaning. Len replies he can and together they decide to climb to the tree hut to see if anyone is inside.

Inside the tree hut is Freddo who looks very distressed.

Freddo croaks to Len that he has been surfing at a beach and now his skin feels like it is burning, please help me. Len and Larry offer to carry him to K. C. Bunnyborough Hospital.
“Oh! No!” He croaks, “I am not going to a rabbit hospital.”

Larry replies that he will go and find Mr Kiwi who makes all sorts of medicines and lotions, perhaps he will have something that will help.

Larry finds Mr Kiwi and tells him about Freddo’s burning skin. Mr Kiwi says he will come to the tree hut to look at Freddo and will bring some of his special invented lotions with him.

When Mr Kiwi arrives at Tree Hut Park and Freddo is grasping for breath and is in a lot of pain. Mr Kiwi asks Len to go home and get a wet blanket to put over Freddo.

Mr Kiwi gives Freddo a bottle of brown liquid and tells Freddo to have a mouth full three times a day and to stay under the wet blanket. Mrs Lemon comes over and invites Freddo to stay with them in her house, but he refuses to move out of the tree hut.

Three days later Freddo has recovered so much so that he is ready to kick the football around with Len and Larry. Freddo asks Len and Larry to wait for him while he jumps away out of sight.

Freddo comes back from some distant bushes driving his pedal car.Wow! The twins are impressed.Freddo drives in front of their house to show Mrs Lemon and their younger brother, Les his pedal car.Freddo asks Mrs Lemon if he can take Len and Larry to a concrete area many miles away where they can ride skateboards and scooters. Mrs Lemon gives her permission for them to go.

Freddo, Len and Larry have a lot of fun playing on the concrete area.Too soon it is time for Freddo to take Len and Larry home.He thanks them enormously for getting Mr Kiwi to cure him and says good bye to the family and goes and finds Mr Kiwi to thank before he goes on his merry way.

Three weeks later Mrs Lemon receives an Advent Calendar from Freddo in the post. Hmm, Mrs Lemon says as she looks at it she doesn’t like the picture that is used because it is not of the real reason to celebrate Christmas. Len, Larry and Les gather around her while she explains the real reason why some people celebrate Christmas. They will take it in turns each day to eat the chocolates when they open the (dates) numbers!

The Pink Mushroom - part 3

Terry Tan puts his front paw up as a peace greeting to Bluey. Terry can sense that the situation is tense. “Greetings, we are from Kowhai Corner Bunnyborough and are searching for the pink mushroom.” Terry Announces. “Oh,” replies Bluey, “I thought you were going to attack us.  We have just passed a group of aggressive male rabbits who were arguing about something.  There seemed to be a female rabbit in the centre of them.  The situation doesn’t look good for her.  We stopped to offer help but some young bucks came over to us and took our bag of carrots and told us to HOP OFF.  As you can see we are old rabbits and want to avoid any trouble.

Bluey and his sisters have been on pink mushroom searches before and have tasted the syrup and have seen some unpleasant situations arise on their search.  Terry and Richard look at each other and are thinking the same thing, Shall we go and find the group of males and see if we can help the female?  Bluey tells Terry that it is now day five and the pink mushroom will dissolve on the seventh morning.

Terry’s reply to Bluey is, "if someone needs help he will help them if he can."  Bluey offers to take Terry’s and Richard’s bottle to fill up with the pink mushroom syrup (they have to find it first!) if they want to go back the way Bluey and his sisters have come. Terry and Richard past their empty bottles over to Bluey because they have decided to go back to find the female rabbit.

They hop towards the direction Bluey has come from until twilight.   Terry tells Richard they will stop now and sleep in the bush tonight. Terry points out to Richard the Hollow Trunk in the distance and tells Richard they will go and have a closer look in the morning. During the night they are woken up by a group of rabbits at the Hollow Trunk making a lot of noise.  Terry whispers to Richard to keep quiet and stay hidden.  The group of male rabbits hop past close to them but they don’t see Terry and Richard. Whew! They are safe.

The next morning Terry and Richard go to have a closer look at the Hollow Trunk.  Richard exclaims he can see rabbit ears in the trunk hollow!  They climb closer and look in the trunk hollow and hear a female squeal.  ”I am naked and a group of male rabbits put me in here and are coming back for me when they have found the pink mushroom.   I can’t get out.”

Terry and Richard pull her out. She squeals again and tells them to turn their heads the other way so she can cover herself with leaves and starts crying. “Don’t cry,” says Richard, “You're safe with us.”
“We have no time to lose,” says Terry,”the group of male rabbits could be back any minute, let’s go.”

They start hopping towards Kowhai Corner Bunnyborough as quick as they can.

After hopping for more than a couple of hours they enter a bushy area to rest and talk.
The white female rabbit tells Terry and Richard that she was on her way to Kowhai Corner Bunnyborough and she stopped to sleep in the bush for the first night.

She awoke in the morning to a sweet fragrance when she looked out of the bush where she had slept and she saw a pink mushroom!! She didn’t know about its’ syrup that can only be drunk by rabbits and that rabbits will search all over the country to find it.She just wanted to hop away from the area as fast as she could because the strong fragrance had given her a headache.
A few days ago a group of male rabbits caught her and kept her captive after they ripped her dress off… and she started to cry again.
“Don’t cry,” says Richard for a second time. “We will take you to Kowhai Corner Bunnyborough and you can live with my family.”
“I have a brother at Kowhai Corner Bunnyborough whose name is Mr White and he has a wife and baby, Gwen.” the white rabbit sobs.
“Well,” Terry comments, “We will take you to their pink boot home.” “Come on not much further to hop now.I’ll just send a message to let them know we are coming.” He thumps his back leg on the ground to send the message.
When Mr and Mrs White's pink boot home comes into view they see the White family hopping towards them. There is a very happy reunion amongst the White family.

Mr and Mrs White thank Terry and Richard for finding Pink Nose and bringing her to them.
Richard and Terry go to Richard's home and Mrs Grayson tells them that Bluey has already been and dropped off their two bottles of pink mushroom syrup.

An Unveiling at Plastic Park

Grandmother Cottontail has arranged a picnic at Plastic Park for mothers with pre-school rabbits.  Grandfather and Grandmother Cottontail have brought a new structure for Plastic Park that they are going to unveil when all the mother rabbits and young rabbits meet together together this morning.

Grandfather and Grandmother Cottontail have brought their caravan to Plastic Park so if it does rain the mother and baby rabbits can sit in the caravan for their picnic.

Grandfather finished covering the new structure just in time when Mrs White arrived with Gwen.

Mrs Grayson with Pip has arrived with her sister Mrs Grayson Blue with Brooke.

Mrs Chocolate arrived next with Nugget who when he saw the swing went hopping over to it. Mrs Chocolate gave him a swing and talked to Mrs White who was watching Gwen who was having slides.

Mrs Clematis Know, the school teacher has arrived with her twins who were premature, Herb and Hebe.

Grandfather Cottontail asks that all the rabbits gather around now for the unveiling.
“Oh!” “It’s a rocking boat.” squeaks Mrs Grayson. “How wonderful it will get a lot of use.” They all clap and jump up and down with excitement.

Gwen and Brooke hop in and start swinging in the swinging boat. They love it.
The other rabbits gather round to make her feel welcome because she feels embarrassed because Herb and Hebe haven't any fur yet. Hebe is hot and wiggles round in the pram whereas Herb is cold. They will be able to keep their temperature stable when their fur grows.

Grandmother Cottontail invites the rabbits to sit on the ground covering she has laid out for a picnic.  They all enjoy her freshly squeezed carrot juice and each other’s friendship.  They have decided that they will all meet again as a preschool group while the other rabbits are at school.

Grandfather and Grandmother Cottontail Farewell the happy group as they all start hopping to their homes.  Some have elder sons and daughters at school so need to be home for their return.
