The Bakery Across the River

Mrs Grayson has rung the  Bakery across the river to order five donuts, two pieces of lemon cheese cake and two chocolate éclairs. The baker’s assistant tells Mrs Grayson that they will be ready to pick up in two hours time.

Mrs Grayson goes outside and asks Lace and Tansey to go to the Bakery to pick up her order. Lace and Tansey are happy to go and pick up their mother’s order from the Bakery because they like to swim in the river.

Lace and Tansey put their swimming costumes in a bag and start hopping to the river.

When they arrive at the river they change into their swimming costumes behind the bushes and swim together to the other side.

At the Bakery the assistants have Mrs Grayson order set out on the counter ready to put into the box. Lace pays with a gold coin that Mrs Grayson gave her. The rabbit bakery assistant says that because this is your first order we are going to give you some extra food items.

Lace and Tansey both balance a box on their back as they swim back across the river. When they reach the other side Tansey suggests they have a look in the box to see what extra food has been put in there.

“Oh,” exclaims Tansey, “There are four extra pieces of lemon cheesecake.” “Shall we have a piece of Lemon cheesecake?” asks Lace looking at the pieces very longingly. Tansey nods her head in agreement.

So they sit by the river in the sun and both eat a piece of lemon cheesecake. The sun has dried their swimming costumes so they pick up their bags with their dresses in and hop home. Mrs Grayson is so pleased with the bakery food that she rings and orders some gingerbread men for the next day!
