A Picnic at Tree Hut Park

Grandpa and Grandma Cottontail are taking Gene and Gregg, baby Pip Grayson and Greg and baby Brooke Grayson-Blue to Tree Hut Park for a picnic.  Grandpa Cottontail drives the to Tree Hut Park.

They arrive at Tree Hut Park they see the Lemon family  there. Len, Larry and Les are on the tree hut playing.   They wave and shout  to the Grayson children  to come and join them.

The Grayson rabbits get out of the car and hop towards the see saw because they want to have a see saw  first.

Larry and Len practice their balancing. Larry is on the arch bridge and Len is on the rope bridge. Grandma Cottontail  invites Mrs Lemon and  her family to join them in their picnic.

The rabbits have hopped  to the branch arch which use to have a tyre swing hanging from it.  Only the chain  remains hanging down but the rabbits can jump up and grab the chain with both hands and swing then jump off.

Grandma Cottontail spreads the table cloth on the ground and puts the basket of donuts and cream horns on the table cloth. The rabbits eat them all and  have an orange drink. The rabbits ask if they can go and play on the pile of pruned branches. “Yes you can,” says Grandpa Cottontail and Mrs Lemon nods her head in agreement. Grandma Cottontail pours Grandpa Cottontail and Mrs Lemon a cup of tea and  they are  chatting when they hear a high pitched squealing sound. “What’s that noise?” asks Grandpa Cottontail as he  turns round to look at the children playing on the pile of pruned branches.

Larry yells to the adults that the noise has come from under the pile of twigs. Greg Grayson jumps off a branch and bends down and sees a baby guinea pig face.  He reaches down and picks the baby guinea pig up.   The guinea pig feels cold.  He hops back to Grandma Cottontail and passes the baby guinea pig to her. Grandma Cottontail rubs the baby guinea to warm him up. She asks him where is his mother but the baby guinea pig is too young to talk and has gone limp.

“Quick into the car everyone,” says Grandpa Cottontail. “We must get this baby guinea home and put him into a warm bed with a hottie."   The Lemon family all wave and say goodbye as the car leaves the Tree Hut Park.

K. C. Bunnyborough Photo Album 2010

The Kowhai tree in flower (yellow flowers) taken in Spring 2009.

The Sylvanian rabbits looking at the first page of a book called Bunnyborough printed in 1946.

This is the second page of the Bunnyborough book.   I was disappointed with this story because  the main character is a dog.    I got the name of this book to name Kowhai Corner Bunnyborough.

Introducing the Pumpkin Patch Bears

Introducing the Pumpkin Patch Bears

The first Pumpkin Patch Teddy Bear that I brought was in May 2010 and it was a honey Oscar bear.   When I brought it at the shop there was a grey bear called Ted Bear wearing a red top and a pink rabbit the same size. I  brought a Ted Bear at the same time.

Oscars home was in the bedroom sitting on a shelf opposite a window that overlooked the street. One morning while he was looking out the window watching the cars go by he saw the Postman arrive on his push bike and put  a plastic post bag in the letter box. Oscar could see the bag moving  in the letter box.

He watched the moving parcel for about five minutes and then he couldn't resist any more.  He jumped down off the shelf onto the window ledge by the open window and attached a rope to the window catch. He crawled out the window and slid down the rope to the ground. He ran to the letter box.

When he reached the letter box he could hear grunts and huffs coming from the post bag.
“Hello,” Oscar called out, “Who’s in the post bag?”
“I’m a teddy bear,” was the reply, “Can you let me out of here?”

“Yes,” said Oscar, and he reached for the post bag, which was heavy for him, and rolled it on the ground to a grassy place where he started to undo the sticking tape. With a big heave a teddy bear head and arms popped out! “Oh, thank you."said the bear, "My name is Riverton. I don’t think I would have survived much longer in the bag.”  Oscar gave him a welcome bear hug when Riverton got himself completely out of the post bag. “Welcome to Kowhai Corner, my name is Oscar, come inside to meet the other three other bears.”
Riverton followed Oscar and they both climbed the rope and crawled through the window.  Oscar introduced Riverton to Ted, May and Patch. May suggested they have a picnic on the floor and have a chat.

May went and got a rug off the shelf to sit on and Patch went and got the food.

They talked about all sorts of things and then Ted asked, “Why haven’t you got any clothes on?”
Oscar replied that he didn’t know where their clothes were.
“Well, let’s have a look in the other bedroom,” answered May.

They went into the other bedroom and saw some striped singlet's on top of a set of drawers. They all put one on, including Ted. They didn’t see the knitting pattern which was underneath the pile, Fish’n’Chips Singlet, for new born babies in Africa, China and Russia. The next day the bears had to take  the singlets off  so they could be posted to the new born babies in Africa, China or Russia.

A week later Tom and Oscar had their own Fish’n’Chips singlet!
