Happy New Year 2024

 The Know Family are at the picnic K. C. Bunnyborough committee have arranged.  Each year at the beginning of the year a picnic is arranged.

The rabbits on the committee pay for a bottle of Lemon and Paeroa to be at the annual summer picnic and it is shared out free to all the families and other rabbits that turn up at the picnic. It is an annual event that the community look forward to.

Rosemary and Dental Nurse Flo are going to be supervising the distribution of the Lemon and Paeroa drink. The rabbits are to line up in family groups and come to get a cup of drink or a jug filled to take back to where they are sitting.

The rabbits with disabilities are to be served first.  Nutmeg pushes Marigold in her wheel chair followed by Rata who is partially blind and Parsley is next with his short front legs.

They are so proud of Rosemary who is now well, from anoxia, who is helping at a community event.

Nutmeg takes some drinks over to the young Grayson/blue family who have been waiting patiently on the mat with the baby.

 They finish their drinks and join the other young rabbits on the climbing frame.

A fishing game has been organized where the children use a fishing rod with a magnetic at the end  of the rod and try and catch fish. They love playing this game.

Meanwhile the K. C. Bunnyborough committee have gone to twin trunks to have a meeting. Mr Grayson/blue and Terry Tan are no longer living at K. C. Bunnyborough so their presence at this meeting is noticed. They have been very much missed. In their discussions they mention how wonderful Nutmeg has been helping with the disabled rabbits when the Dental Nurse travels around to other districts. Parsley, a disabled rabbit moved in to live at K. C. Bunnyborough last year and has settled in very well. Nutmeg has also been helping with the care of young Grayson/blue family.

The Cadbury Rabbits arrive at K. C. Bunnyborough

 Frankton and Violet have arrived at K. C. Bunnyborough with some little rabbits and are at the gardens to meet the kiwi leader for the area.

They have been given permission to live at K. C. Bunnyborough but as the rest of their family arrives Mr Kiwi is to be informed. He will decide how many more rabbits will get permission to live here.

Permission has been given for Cherry and Sweet pea who arrive two days later. Cherry has accompanied Sweet pea who is unable to move very fast. She has short limbs plus a hole in her stomach from a gunshot wound.

Cherry has taken Sweet pea to meet Doctor Kiwi who will examine her and may be able to operate to close the hole in her stomach. The hole in her stomach was caused by a bullet wound when she was young.  Doctor Kiwi has told them that he could operate to close the wound. So, now it is Sweet peas decision if she will go ahead with the operation.

The next day the rabbits meet to discuss Sweet pea’s operation. Sweet pea is very slow at moving around and having the operation to close the hole will help her legs to be in the correct position and hopping around will be easier and quicker for her. Samuel, far right, is with them and all the rabbits except Sweet pea are all for her to have the operation.  Reluctantly Sweet pea agrees to the operation.

The day arrives for the operation. Doctor Kiwi will do it assisted by Mr Kiwi. Sweet pea is not allowed to have visitors for seven days so that she won’t pick up any infection. Three weeks after the operation Sweet pea can leave the hospital and go home.

The rabbits are amazed at the appearance of Sweet pea, she looks healthy and her ears have turned pink inside and her eyes are brighter. Sweet pea will regain her strength and will be just like the other rabbits. The operation certainly was a success.
