Rata, Marigold and Rosemary

This is part two of  Nurse Emily Nightingale

K. C. Bunnyborough Medical Centre has just opened and Nurse Emily Nightingale and Nurse Flo, (who is also a qualified dentist), have arrived to work and live at the Centre.  Patients can have appointments and stay the night or nights to have treatment at the Medical Centre.

On the first morning Mr Know arrives with Rata, Marigold and Rosemary.  Nurse Emily welcomes them in and shows them their beds and tells them that they are very special because they are the first patients to be treated at K. C. Bunnyborough’s new Medical Centre.

Nurse Emily has arranged a consultation room where she can have privacy with her patients while she examines them. She talks to Rata first to get some history on her life and hear what treatment she has already received from Dr Kiwi.Rata tearfully starts her story. One evening her parents were out of their burrow looking for food and Rata was in the burrow playing with her brothers and sisters when they heard some gun shots being fired. Then they saw the barrel of a rifle in the entrance of the burrow and she heard a loud bang. When she regained consciousness Mr Know was holding her and told her that her parents and siblings have been shot dead and he has carried her to K. C. Bunnyborough. Rata’s eyes could open but she could only see shades of red  because a bullet had gone into the back of her head and it caused bleeding in her eyes.  Dr Kiwi operated and removed the bullet which has also caused a back injury and she cannot sit.

Nurse Emily listens to her heart and examines her eyes and decides to order some special glasses for her to wear.

The next patient is Marigold who limps into the consultation room. Marigold tells Nurse Emily that she got her leg caught in a gin trap and all the rabbits in her home area hopped away and left her to her fate.Mr Know was nearby and heard her crying. He hopped over to investigate and could see her legs were trapped. He hopped back to K. C. Bunnyborough as quick as he could to fetch Mr Grayson and Mr Blue and they all hopped to where Marigold lay, now unconscious, and with a lot of effort and strength they were able to free her legs from the trap. They brought her to K. C. Bunnyborough where Dr Kiwi came and re set one leg and bandaged her damaged toes on the other leg.She has lived at K. C. Bunnyborough since because no family members could be found.

Nurse Emily listens to her heart and examines her old leg and toe injuries.

Nurse Emily has read Rosemary's history given to her by Mr Know. Rosemary saw her family members being shot and she escaped by hiding behind a rock.Mr Know found her in a state of shock a few days later and could see Rosemary hadn’t eaten for a few days so he carried her to K. C. Bunnyborough. Rosemary hasn't spoken since she arrived at K. C. Bunnyborough .There seems to be no reason as to why Rosemary doesn’t talk. Rosemary is thin and eats very little so Nurse Emily is hoping Rosemary will put on some weight while she stays at the Medical Centre.

Nurse Emily listens to Rosemary heart and checks her ears, eyes and throat.
In the evening when the rabbit patients are asleep Nurse Emily and Nurse Flo discuss the best treatment for each of them. They have decided to get some of the furniture changed; the patients beds are too small!

K.C. Bunnyborough Medical Centre is part one then Nurse Emily Nightingale is part two
